Disputing and Correcting Items in Your TransUnion Credit Report

transunion-logo.pngHere is overview of the ways to contact TransUnion, along with some tips to help you dispute and correct items in your credit report.

If you've found an inaccuracy on your credit report or want to correct something in your TransUnion credit file, our recommend method for disputing and correcting items is by certified mail. You can always try calling them, or submitting your request online first, but if that fails, don't hesitate to follow up with a dispute request via certified mail. Just be sure to include all of your supporting information and documentation.

When you contact them it is best to have a current copy of your TransUnion credit report. You can request one from them directly or through AnnualCreditReport.com. Contacting them within 60 days of receiving that report is ideal, with your file number handy.

If mailing TransUnion, be sure to include a copy of your credit report along with the items you are disputing circled or highlighted.
